When I first got into recovery somebody gave me a polished black rock and told me it could be my higher power. I lost it and got loaded over it, of course. Then I adopted a holy trinity of goddesses (I was doing a women's studies degree at the time) and eventually the trinity devolved to Mary - not so much the Catholic idea of Mary as the idea of the feminine divine. She's still my higher power most days because tapping into feminine energy or the idea of it is easy for me - I'm surrounded by women in my life. Other days - my higher power is the feeling the envelopes me when I take a cup of tea down to the ocean, or sit in my garden and look at my white lilacs. I feel my higher power's presence around me when my grandson wraps his little arms around me. And tomorrow night - I will feel a higher power in the room when I celebrate 13 years of abstinence in a room full of miracles. Thanks, Diane. It helps to be reminded that god can be - whatever I choose, whenever I choose it. Hugs to you.Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09277751616587900015noreply@blogger.com
